FAQs

JASI Logo Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q. Can the Institute faculty and staff tailor-fit a training workshop to meet the needs of my organization?

A. Yes. Professional Development Training can be customized based on needs and interests. Once it is understood what the needs of an organization are, faculty ensure that the training is adapted to meet specific needs of the organization. This may include setting up pretraining meetings, reviewing organizational documents, and asking for specific information relevant to the training topic.

Q. Can faculty and staff travel outside the state of Pennsylvania or the United States to provide consultation services or programs?

A. Yes. Faculty and staff frequently provide training to contract for projects on-site, virtually anywhere in the world.

Q. What kind of financial arrangements can be made for funding Institute programs?

A. Faculty are very flexible in developing an appropriate means of budgeting programs, which may include memoranda of agreements, fee-based services, and subcontracts within county, state, and Federal grants.

Q. Who should I contact to discuss particular interests or needs for services within the Institute's Family and Domestic Relations Programs?

A. Dr. Jennifer Adams Mastrofski oversees all activities and projects of the Institute's Family and Domestic Relations Programs. She can be reached at (814) 863-0895 or by e-mail at mvc@psu.edu.

Education Programs for Separated or Divorcing Parents

Q. Can anyone attend an education program for separated or divorcing parents?

A. Individuals may register for the four-hour seminar, even if they are not mandated by the courts to attend. However, all individuals MUST pay a fee to attend the course, whether attendance is mandated or not. Seminars are not free.

Q. Can a person register for the seminar by phone?

A. No. All registrations for the four-hour seminar must be mailed or delivered in person. Registration forms may be obtained by calling the Institute office at (814) 863-0079.

Law Enforcement

Q. Who are the instructors for these programs?

A. Any program offered at the Penn State University Park campus in State College, as well as programs offered at the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center and those advertised in trade publications, Institute brochures, or on this web site, are available to law enforcement professionals outside of Pennsylvania.

Q. How can my agency or I take advantage of Penn State Law Enforcement Training programs?
